the central valley looking good the scene limit and over the altamont pass and through livermore and we have road work eastbound dumbarton bridge in lanes for another hour. >> developing news from the south bay, the bomb squad will blow up another bomb today found the scene home of a santa clara man who is jailed on charges of making threats against a public official. we have the latest from the house where this starts. >> the c.h.p. is keeping a close watch on this house here where another homemade bomb was discovered on wednesday. they will blow it up later this morning and we are learning more surprised about the man who lives here. police searched the house two days ago after the homeowner made a threat against state senator ye, on tuesday, a homemade bomb were blown up by

the bomb squad and a further search turned up more hazardous chemicals. what the c.h.p. is calling "usable bomb." >> actually, that isn't what we were looking for so it was an eye opener. didn't expect to find what we did, officially, so we are working on continuing to make seen safe as we process the evidence. >> another surprise, the suspect is a software engineer who worked directly with apple cofounder, steve wozniak who endorsed him on the linkedin profile saying he is the most generally skilled engineer. he is never dull and that keeps the rest of us inspireed. the suspect remains behind bars this morning in the santa clara county jail and the senator has planned a news conference for later this morning to talk about the threat against him which has to do with his efforts to bolster gun control laws.

the deputy who was killed in tuesday's shoot out with fugitive ex-police officer christopher dorner. the sheriff identified him as a 35-year-old mckay survived by his wife and a seven-year-old daughter and four-month-old son. the manhunt for dorner is officially over although they are still waiting for positive i.d. on the charred remains of a body believed to be dorner. officials removeed the remains yesterday from the cabin in big bear. the man carjacked before the shoot out is talking about it. >> he jumped out of the snow at me, gun drawn, big long rifle and pointed the gun at me and said i don't want to hurt you. the never says the cabin was not intentionally burned down to get him out but the canisters were fired in the cabin during a tear gas assault to flush him out. >> we have breaking news from treasure island. a live picture: power is out to

the entire island. here is a look from atop mount tamalpais with the entire section on top where you usually see the island and lights on the island. we are told the energy company that supplies to the island is trying to figure out what caused the outage that began at 2:30 this morning so it has been 2 1/2 hours we have a call, now, to see how long it will take to get the power back on for those folks. the cause right now is unknown and being investigated. >> police are talking to witnesses in an effort to find a person who stabbed a san jose team. the victim was stabbed on east julian street next to the campus of san jose high school. he stumbled to north 21st where he died. you can see the taped off area where investigators spent several hours looking for evidence. police have not identified the teen or revealed the cause of the stabbing.

>> in gilroy a search is underway if a couple who tried to lure a child into a car. our media partner, the mercury news, reports he was taking out the trash at his home when the incident occurred. the boy notice add tan car parkedded with a woman and man inside and they tried to get his attention but the boy got scared and ran to tell his parents. >> san mateo homeowner who claim as legal battle with the city is preventing him from living in his home will be in court today to fight an injunction. he told abc7 last month that he was spending nights in a tent in the front yard because the city red tagged his house and the city attorney said they have tried to work with the homeowner on the remodels for 10 years saying the house dangerous and lacks working humming and heating. the city wants to legally force the man to clean up or abandon the house. >> this morning officials at uc berkeley and fire investigators are look into why a transformer

and oakland is 42 and mountain view is 43 and antioch is 44 and 43 in san jose, and half moon bay is 45 and san francisco is 47 and everyone else is in the mid-to-upper 30's. around the monterey bay we have temperatures in the upper 30's to near 40 degrees. >> so, today, fog. fades quickly. we will have a lot of sunshine and warmer weather for valentine's day. milder today and through saturday and cooling trend and you will start to notice it sunday and monday and the wet pattern rolls in on tuesday and wednesday and temperatures below average to balance out this above average weather we are having and we will go from 67 in sunnyvale to 70 in los gatos and up the peninsula, 69 at lows am dose and low-to-mid 60's along the coast and my 60's downtown and south san francisco and toward the east bay shore, mid-to-upper 60's for you and temperatures ranging from 66 in brentwood to 68 in concord today

patience probably as there is thick fog in the north bay and some of that is spilling along the bay shore. not hitting some of the reporting stations and you can can see oakland is den miles visibility but emeryville camera is socked in. we have quarter-mile visibility at half moon bay and napa, and two in novato for the thicker spots. now, what will happen this afternoon on valentine's day, brighter the scene coast and warmer at 61 to 64. around the bay the temperatures top out at 63 to 70 and sunny inland, 66 to 69. enjoy warmth on valentine's day. >> the commute is socked in on east shore freeway. you can barely see the headlights on 80 moving westbound. they have the caltran road sign up that senators "dense fog" but you do not see them until you get on them because of the dense fog so it is a double whammy. bart and muni and caltrain are the great way to go.

san mateo bridge drive is right there. >> breaking news, the double amputee sprinter known as "blade runner" is in south africa jail accused of murdering his girlfriend. katie marzullo has the latest details. >> eric, after the shooting we are learning more of the victim, 29-year-old reeva steenkamp. this is video of her. she was one of the 100 sexiest women in the world for two years running. her twitter account says she is a lawsuit school brought and model, and she was an entrepreneur who cared about empowering women and scheduled to give an inspirational talk at a school today. her boyfriend, south africa olympic runner, oscar pistorius, has charged with killing her. she was fund shot to death in his home this morning. police recovered a pistol there.

investigators say oscar pistorius and reeva steenkamp were the only two in the house. police say there have been previous incidents of allegations of domestic violence the scene home. there are unconfirmed reports he mistook reeva steenkamp for an intruder but police say they were surprised to hear that theory. (inaudible). there have been allegations made that he shot she was a burglary but those allegations did not come from us. >> these are new pictures of oscar pistorius taken just now as he left jail headed for court. the appearance is scheduled for this afternoon. oscar pistorius is a sprint runner who double below the knee amputation. he was the first double amputee to participate in the olympics and he has also won gold medals in the paralympics.

>> more developing news. the san bernardino sheriff says the manhunt for ex-police officer christopher dorner is over. officials are working to positively identify the charred remains of the body removed from the cabin near big bear where there was a showdown and we hear from the owners of the lodge who found dorner in a cabin. they knew it was him right away. >> i thought it could be the end. he talked to us. he tried to calm us down. he said very directly, he would not kill us. >> dorner was if a shoot out with police after being cornered inside a cabin on tuesday. the suspect presumed to be dorner killed a deputy and

wounded another before the building was finally consumed by flames. the sheriff says the cabin was not intentionally burned down but he says "burners" were fired into the cabin during a tear gas assault to flush him out. >> in santa clara authorities will detonate what they describe as a "usable" bomb later this morning. c.h.p. officers found the bomb yesterday the scene home belonging to 45-year-old suspect. other explosive materials were discovered there and detonated on tuesday night. the deputy is in jail charges with making threats to a state senator who is expected to talk about the case later this morning. we are learning more about the suspect who is a software engineer who worked directly with apple co-founder wozniak who described him as a brilliant engineer. >> this is a live look the scene house where c.h.p. investigators have been on the team since

thursday preparing to detonate the bomb in a bomb squad trailer to contain the blast some time after day break. cornell bernard will have more in the next half hour. >> developing news, alameda county sheriff deputies are looking if a shooter after a young man was fatally shot at a school in san leandro. amy is live the scene scene with the latest. >> it happened outside this elementary school. southwest gators are still here on the scene and been here all night. it happened last night at 9:00, a call that shots were fired. they found a young adult man, possibly 18 or 19. they are not sure. they say he was killed in the incident and they have not made any arrests. investigators are looking for schools and blocked off a huge section of this area here in front of the school. no word on when it will re-open,

if it will re-open in time for school to start. this is in san leandro. it is alameda county sheriff who is here investigating this and this is the first murder of the year for the alameda county sheriff. we will bring you updates as we follow the developing story through the day. >> breaking news at hillside elementary school in san leandro and we will keep our eye point. also, the bart board will take the first step in a controversial plan to raise fares and parking fees for commuters for years to come. the agency is considering increasing fares by 5.2 percent to deal with long listen term budget problems that average 18 cents a ride starting next year, and it calls for raising fees the scene business of the bart parking lots by 50 cents. the board will discuss the proposal in oakland at 9:00 this morning so you can have your

>> the biggest airline is a step closer to reality this morning following a merger between american airlines and us airways. the boards of both approves the deal and it will be officially announced at 8:00 our time in a news conference. the deal u.n. be approved by the bankruptcy judge and u.s. air shareholders but if it goes through this leaves u.s. travel dominated by four major airlines: american, united, delta and southwest. they would control three 40s of all airline traffic. >> redwood city is the latest city on the peninsula to implement a ban on plastic bags voting march 11 to require shoppers to use re-useable bag or pay ten cents for a paper bag. if approve the ban take effect april 21, earth day. >> volunteers armed with flashlights are patrolling

moving away, the mid-and-upper level clouds moving away from the coast and lower clouds are 700' deep so it only take as couple of hours of sunshine to get rid of them so they will build here for the morning couple mute. from 36 in santa rosa to san francisco's 47. oakland at 42 and san jose at 43 this morning and temperatures in the upper 30's to near 40 around the monterey bay and inland. fog fades quickly to sunny valentine day and milder weather today and tomorrow and saturday but then the pattern changes and opens the door for the wet weather, tuesday and wednesday, and more to come after that. today, nothing but sunshine this afternoon, and temperatures above average mid-to-upper 60's, 63 at half moon bay, and near 69 in santa rosa, and fremont, and los gatos may hit 70 for the warm spot around the bay area. you can see 70's around clear lake and cloverdale and we will hit mid 60's at monterey and

everyone else around the bay and inland, 69 to 71 degrees. tonight, mild again without the fog and will 39 in santa rosa, and 48 in san francisco and milder temperatures overnight. here are the two areas of high pressure as the one over the land becomes more dominant we will get that land breeze developing and it will be warm today and tomorrow but the jet stream stays to the north through monday and japan, this storm came up and this is what we are watching for the wet weather in the coldest temperatures next tuesday and wednesday so we will walk through it: mid-60's to near 70 today and tomorrow and low-to-upper 60's for saturday, and you can see by monday we are in the mid-50's the scene coast and only 60's for the rest of us and cooler only low-to-mid 50's with a chance of rain tuesday and wednesday. have a great day. sue? >> a stall eastbound, the reverse commute on 80 blocking
